Pretties

I'm back with the next book in the Uglies series...

Pretties,by Scott Westerfield
Rating:Four Stars

The book starts where Tally has been turned into a pretty...and loves her life! There's only one problem. She remembers her time in the Smoke, but not why she turned herself in. But Tally doesn't care because this life is so much better! She is popular, goes to the best parties, and is in the best club ever:the Crims.  This group focuses on being bubbly, which means having an adrenaline rush. Her super hot boyfriend is also in the club, and they both discover a secret. Tally and Zane find a note from pre-ugly Tally, reminding her of the reason she turned herself in,and the secret that makes her run away-again.
This book was really good, and at the beginning of the book, her life sounds like bliss-because it is!This book was kind of confusing, but I just went along with it. There  are HUGE plot twists, and I couldn't stop reading. I like the world in which Earth has become, and there are amazing things like hoverboards, self boiling water, and bungee suits which allow you to jump from a huge distence without support. If you are looking for a good book to read,READ THIS BOOK!!! (after you read the Uglies)

The Uglies

Sorry about the time distance between my posts, but that was because there was nothing to read!!!!Well,I had something to read...until I finished it. What is this book, you ask? Take a look at

Uglies,by Scott Westerfeld
Rating:Four Stars
First, let me explain about the world in this book. From birth to age 11,you are considered a Littlie and  live with your parents. From age 12 to 15,you are considered an Ugly. Friends have nicknames for each others flaws, such as Squinty and Shorty. You live in a dorm with your friends. At age 16,you get a life altering surgery. You receive flawless skin, large eyes, and full lips, along with other changes to hair and height. After this transformation, you are a Pretty. You live in mansions and have parties all day and night till about 30,when you get another surgery that makes you look more adult. You get a job and raise your own littlies. After the age of 90 you get another surgery that makes you have softer skin and lighter hair and you stay that way for the rest of your life, where you live to be about 117!
Tally Youngblood is a 15 year old Ugly, and she can't wait for the treatment. Her best friend just turned 16 and is living in New Pretty Town having the time of his life,Tally finds out after sneaking over. While waiting for those long 3 months to pass,Tally makes a new friend called Shay. Shay doesn't want to become pretty and runs away to the "Smoke" to live with a guy called David after Tally turns her down to come with her.
Finally,it's Tally's big day. But terrifying pretties take her to their lab and tell her the bad news. These people called Specials know that Shay has run away, leaving Tally in a mess. Tally must find Shay and turn her in,or never become pretty. Tally chooses to find Shay and the Smoke. But she soon finds the reason this place exists. The reason isn't very pretty. Tally must make the choice to continue with the mission or become a wanted rebel.
I love this book!It seems like a shallow plot with people living in Pretty Town and everyone is happy, but it's anything but that! There are extreme plot twist, and I finished this book in 5 days. There was a huge cliffhanger at the end, leading me to start a frantic search for the next book!I would recommend this book to people who like survival, utopian realities, betrayal, and dehydrated spaghetti called SpagNoods.

Divergent Trilogy Review and Quiz

I'm back...with a trilogy! Introducing the series of Divergent!!!!!!

#1 Divergent

Rating:5 stars
Divergent is set in the future where there are 5 factions,or cities, that everyone lives in. The selfless live in Abnegation, the peaceful in amity, the honest in Candor, the brave in Dauntless, and the intelligent in Erudite. Of course, you stay in the faction you are born in...until you turn 16. All 16 year-olds take a test that will determine the faction they should go into. But some are DIVERGENT. They get more than one aptitude for a faction, and the society classifies them as dangerous. They will hunt you down and kill you. Beatrice, an Abnegation,is divergent. She chooses a new faction and must fit in and try to survive.
I really like this book because the world Beatrice lives in is so detailed. It's easy to imagine that this society really exists in some far off country.   You get attached to the characters and NONE of the pages are wasted. However,it does have a bit of romance, which I liked but some boys might shy away from. This is not some kissy kissy romance though.  Each has their secrets, and they must find out if they can trust each other....
The book ends after Erudite attempts to take over Abnegation. MUCH SUSPENSE.

#2 Insurgent

Rating:4 stars

After Erudite's attack,Beatrice and her boyfriend Four take refugee in the Amity compound. With some sneaking around,Tris discovers that the Abnegation had information on the Divergent. After a while, the faction less(those without factions)team up with Dauntless and battle the Erudite. The Erudite lose after injecting some with a strange serum. The Dauntless are able to return to the cabin, but the Erudite leader has a plan. She activates the serum for two children who go to the highest Dauntless tower. In a mechanical voice, they explain that this will happen every 2 weeks if a Divergent does not turn herself in. The children jump off the tower, but Tris can only save one. Tris sacrifices herself and goes to the Erudite compound, where they study and torture her. Her friends go to save her,but Tris finds out that the Erudite leader has the info on the Divergent and tries to save them to retain the information.after the commotion,Tris is accused of being a Dauntless traitor. MORE SUSPENSE. The book was a little slow until the end,and therefore kind of hard to explain in a post.

#3 Allegiant

Rating 5 stars

After reading the last two books,I had to wait for the next. Then on a magical day,UPS delivered...Allegiant! It was the first day of sale. I read the book and...
Allegiant starts with Tris in her trial for being a traitor. After being deemed innocent, she plays the video on the Divergent. It is one of Tris's ancestors that explains that the non Divergent's ancestors had their genes damaged in an attempt to make perfect people. It went wrong, and they were put in factions until their genes fixed themselves. The Divergent's genes are already fixed and must go outside the factions to help the people "outside the fence". Tris,Four, and her brother go on a journey and make it to an airport that has been converted into a laboratory.  The friends discover new things, must make choices that affect themselves and others, and learn the meaning of sacrifice.
This book has more suspense than any other! To be honest,I was a little disappointed to leave the factions behind, but that was made up for by the amazing detail of what our world has turned into! It had connections with discrimination, because the Divergent are treated with more respect than the non divergent. The scenes were very dramatic and I kept reading parts over and over again!
The rating could be 4.99 because I thought the epilogue was weak. It doesn't show much about what happened afterwards, unless the once unpredictable characters now live boring and simple lives.Other than that,it was great!

Drama

I know I said I would show this book a few days ago, but there  was a few things that prevented me from blogging. Anyways, now I have my new book...
                   http://www.chapelhillcomics.com/content/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/DRAMA1.jpg
                Drama,by Raina Telgemeier

Rating:Four Stars

I got Drama the same way as Ghostopolis. After the happiness  of having one  book signed at Comic-Con, I saw Raina, the author of Drama. She told me about her new book, Drama, so of course I got it!

Drama is about how a girl named Callie is part of the stage crew in drama club. She soon meets two boys that she can't help but like. Callie gets to know them better and better, but do they like her as she likes them?Find out which one does!

This is another wonderful graphic novel. A bit of romance is always good, especially when this seems like real life middle school, where some books only focus on losing friends. In Drama, Callie keeps her friends, and doesn't fret over being the "popular girl" as so many other books do.

So yet another book that I've showed you, and (hopefully soon) I'll be reviewing Can You Get an F in Lunch? Bye!

Ghostopolis

I've been gone awhile, but with a few new books to show! My first book is...http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/6/62/Ghostopolis-cover.png/250px-Ghostopolis-cover.png
Ghostopolis, by Doug TenNapel

   Rating:Four and a Half Stars
I got the book in one of the best ways possible. I was at Comic-Con, a HUGE comic/geeky convention. Unfortunately, there was no Harry Potter things there, which I was really disappointed about. Lucky, I was able to buy Ghostopolis and have it signed by Doug TenNapel.I even got a picture with him, shown below.

About the book...It's really great. It's about how a man names Frank Gallows accidentally sends a boy called Garth Hale into Ghostopolis. While Frank tries to undo his mistake, Garth  learns about the twisted world of the afterlife and how it came to be that way. But can he get back to the real world?

This is a wonderful graphic novel. It has everything you could want in a book about the afterlife. Suspense, action, and a bit of humour. I loved the characters and their strange pasts and secrets. I have already recommended this to my friends, and I recommend it to you too! Check back tomorrow for Drama.
